Editor's review
This is a tool for scheduling tasks with task script editing capabilities.
This tool provides users an advanced task scheduler/automation tool for Windows. VisualCron provides a range of useful features that include advanced file/script execution, file transfer (FTP/FTPS/SFTP/SSH/HTTP), email, archiving (ZIP/TAR/GZIP), XML handling, Active directory tasks, encryption (PGP), desktop macro recording, send/receive emails, system control (Hibernate, Standby, Restart, Logoff), SQL execution and monitoring, etc. You will be able to define jobs with tasks that start processes, copy files, execute remote scripts and send keystrokes. You are able to build in conditional changes in the task flow depending on errors taking place or other conditions. Task scheduling can also be triggered by occurrence of real-time triggers such as change in a file, a process start or end, or changes in the event log.
The interface is a strong point of the program. You are able to see the structure of the jobs assigned including all other sub-tasks that the job includes. The display also indicates when the job ran last, when it is due again and so on. There is built in edit tool to edit, delete and add jobs. The tool also gives you a good search feature to find the required task/job from your storage. Real time update of client and server logs with filter functionality, capability to set the column order, row filtering an visibility of the job list, etc. are featured. You can set the interface up in one of several languages. The clients can easily switch between servers for running the jobs. The user must be knowledgeable about creation of task, effects of those tasks and how to write those tasks. This is a good and handy tool for IT types not the plain vanilla users.
